Born in Manalapan, NJ, Chris Essner is studying Journalism and Political Science at Rutgers University. At Rutgers he has acquired a vast array of knowledge particularly in the broadcast medium. His broadcast career started in radio at WRSU as a sports announcer. He then wanted to shift his focus to television broadcasting, and in the spring of 2012 he began working at WABC-TV in New York. At WABC-TV he reported on teams like the Knicks and Rangers. In the fall of the same year he made the decision to focus on hard news and started working at NBC News in New York starting off in affiliate relations. He has worked with shows such TODAY, Dateline, and Rock Center. Chris produced a story for NBC about military veterans, and worked as a field producer for WDIV during the election. Today Chris spends his time working in the Nightly News newsroom.
